Moon Mala

A mala, meaning “garland” in Sanskrit, evokes a circular, continuous form. Traditional mala beads are used during meditation or prayer to chant a mantra as you move your fingers along each bead. There are 108 beads, a number that holds significance in many places and times throughout history. Some say that there are 108 energy lines connecting to the heart. Others believe that there are 108 stages on the journey to the human soul. It is also believed that 108 breaths will bring true enlightenment. Mala beads can alternatively be used to foster mindfulness when worn as a necklace as the specific properties of the gemstones used bring healing in their own unique way. Gemstone beads hold beautiful energy within each stone.

Each mala has been made with intention, carefully hand-knotted, and either placed in a full moon bath or been cleansed with the incense of a smudge pot to clear its energy. The gemstone beads are 6 mm round with the exception of the four spacer beads, which are 8 mm round. A smooth oval midnight metal bead lies at the halfway point of the 108 bead circle. A sterling silver faceted bead (1 mm) rests on either side of the halfway bead. The guru, or 109th bead, is a lakeshore rock handpicked and tumbled near my home in Central Alberta. The length is approximately 16” + 7” for the sari silk tassel.

Moonstone is closely associated with the moon. This stone is strongly connected to energy, intuition and spirituality. It is also known as the stone of new cycles, connecting to femininity while also encouraging emotional healing, enhancing intuitive awareness and finding internal balance.

Clear quartz is a powerful amplifier, enhancing the effects of surrounding gemstones. It has the capacity to absorb, store, release and regulate energy. This stone releases self-limitation, supporting you on the journey to align with your Highest Self.

The gemstones used are natural, therefore, please allow for slight variations in color and imperfections to the natural stone.
